Last week I had the pleasure of participating in the Third International Conference on Advances in Computing Research (ACR’25), held in the beautiful city of Nice, France. It was an honour to serve as both a panel moderator and session chair, representing IE University alongside an exceptional international community of researchers and innovators.

The conference covered a wide range of timely topics across computational intelligence, cybersecurity, networking, and data analytics. I chaired the opening Computational Intelligence session, where we explored groundbreaking work including hybrid metaheuristics for task scheduling, innovative sign-to-text systems for accessibility, and deep reinforcement learning for communication networks. The diversity and quality of the contributions were remarkable.

A personal highlight was moderating the panel discussion titled “Where is Computational Intelligence Heading?” with esteemed colleagues from Germany, the USA, and France. Our discussion touched on the trajectory of large language models, human-centred AI, and the increasing interplay between explainability and real-world application. The exchange of ideas was both rigorous and forward-looking.

Beyond the academic insights, ACR’25 was an outstanding opportunity to engage with fellow scholars and build new collaborations in an inspiring setting. The conference dinner, the vibrant networking sessions, and the chance to explore the city made the experience truly memorable. Nice offered the perfect backdrop—its mix of cultural charm and Mediterranean flair reminded us that impactful science can flourish in beautiful surroundings.

I return to Madrid energised by the innovation on display and grateful for the opportunity to contribute. Thank you to the organisers, presenters, and participants for making ACR’25 such a rewarding experience.
